Refugees through time

Refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced people are rarely far from the news headlines, but has this always been the case?

This short activity compares a painting of a refugee family from the 1930s with a photo of a family who fled the violence in Myanmar in 2018. Learners will consider the challenges both may have to face, and their shared humanity.

   Learners compare and contrast the images, considering what they might have in common and what they would want to ask the people in the images.
