Lesson 3 delves into the social commentary that was a recurring theme in Dickens’ work. Students will examine how he used issues of his day, such as cruelty, poverty and slavery, to encourage others to reflect on society and form their own opinions. Students will start to integrate their own themes into their stories for the competition. In this lesson students will also discuss the personal implications of plagiarism.
