This resource takes a different approach by: Grounding AI in real, recognisable experiences (e.g. devices answering questions, playing music, or creating images) Using concrete, child-clear language rather than abstract or technical terms Focusing on behaviour and decision-making (“OK / Not OK / Not sure”) rather than hypothetical or unfamiliar scenarios Explicitly addressing key safeguarding themes: kindness, honesty, personal information, and adult support Avoiding anthropomorphised AI imagery or language, reinforcing that AI is a tool, not a person The lesson is structured to build understanding step by step, starting with what AI is, then practising judgements through carefully sequenced scenarios, and ending with a strong, reassuring message about adult support.
