An animated slideshow explaining how henry came to marry the 6 women and what happened to them. I added greensleeves during the lesson objectives and during a vote at the end. I also added horse and thunder sounds to the relevant slides using clip art sounds. Students loved that it was a bit silly and animated in parts.

Charles I - Trial and Execution

(3)
I did this lesson the day after a lesson on the Civil War. Name cards and scripts were given out to volunteers to act out the trial (we even moved the tables round to look like a court room). Then we went through each day of the trial and analysed the behaviors of the characters, and whether Charles was getting a fair trial. The pupils then paired up, numbered 1 and 2, 1s gave a reason for execution, 2s gave a reason against. We chose the strongest argument and gave that person a point. We then had a result of which won - for or against.

James I & Gunpowder Plot

(0)
A collection of stuff I've used with Year 8 on James I and the Gunpowder Plot topic. The facebook template is great for collating information in a way the students really enjoy. And the riddle was something I just had on the board as the pupils entered to grab their focus. The evidence and table was just a card shorting exercise on A3 paper, and ended with a vote as to whether the plot was a conspiracy or not.
