These cards are the first of many helping pupils to work out how to wire and program the Crumble control boards. (A very cheap resource to combine D&T and Computing) I envisage the cards being used independently by more able pupils. Middle ability and SEN pupils can use the basic starter projects and then use the cards to adapt and extend the basic idea. I have used basic components for these first cards but I will be extending the range to include the excellent Crumbs produced by 4tronix, for a few pounds more these are much more rugged and will survive longer in the primary classroom. Ultimately I would love schools to make up packs and allow pupils to take these home and kickstart the junior maker movement. I would recommend that pupils use Scratch first at least to the Maths Quiz level as the programming blocks are modelled on Scratch.

Thanks Alan Paul Hello Phil just come across your resource on the TES page which led me to the video interview in Holland You reminded of my time in education when I worked at the National Centre for School Technology in the 80’s and 90’s when I ran courses for teachers in control systems in Nottingham, around the UK and for 14 years in the United States and Canada. A great experience/ I am 85 yrs now and retired full time about 20 years, but continued the States until about 4 years ago for the ITEEA at a national and state level. Last year I was asked to put some teaching concepts together for a 2 day state course. I put some basic notes together which may be of interest to you. if they are, feel free to use them in any way you wish. Best of Luck in getting the nation computer literate! I started around 1979, learning how to write 6502 assembler coding on a 2 LED line display, and you had to remember which memory address you had placed your programme, all for control applications.
