The Week Junior is much loved in my Year 5 class. We have the copies on our book shelves and they are all taken for reading time with the children keen to read and share the stories with one another. It is great to see their love of reading enhanced and even better that they are openly discussing the articles between themselves, often with much excitement and awe.

When articles are linked to our topic or literacy theme I will often use this as a non fiction example. I used an article about orangutans to give a different perspective to our text, Kensuke's Kingdom. The children enjoyed the link and were able to combine the non fiction facts within their creative writing.

Highly recommend for school based reading time, home reading and for PSHE discussion time along with any links you can make to your own topics.
