IB German - B & Abinitio - Articles / Texts for Revision

IB German - B & Abinitio - Articles / Texts for Revision

this is a selection of texts and articles taken from the sources that the IB likes to use for the Paper 1 exams in Abinitio German. As the Paper 1 is challenging in comparison to Paper 2, the texts would also be very suitable for German B SL or HL. I did not have the fortitude to create text based tasks also, so this is ‘just’ a collection of articles based on current topics and things likely to turn up in the exam.

ERKLÄRBÄR-Spiel: im Büro, Deutsch/German office words game, speaking and describing vocabulary, DAF

❤️ Look out for more ❤️ More “Erklärbär” games will be published and I am glad to share this wonderful game with you. It is great fun for learners to actually use their language skills to describe a word and the others guessing it. ❤️ About me ❤️ Hi there 👋🏼! I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. Year 7 German - School subjects

Year 7 German - School subjects

At least a week’s worth of work geared to building students’ confidence in asking and answering questions about school subjects. The questions and answers have been inspired by Pearson’s KS3 and KS4 assessments along with AQA’s specimen material. We’ve been trialling a new approach following student voice interviews. We are now introducing students to new language through a mixture of reading, listening and translation into English before moving on to speaking. Since taking this approach, we’ve seen students’ willingness to speak shoot up, as have their speaking grades. A pleasant surprise! This PowerPoint and workbook set is good to go. The notes pages on the first slide of the PowerPoint provide information about resources along with an overview of the lesson. Subsequent slides contain additional tips. The PowerPoint and ‘8 questions-8 opinions’ workbook are designed to be used together in the lesson, whereas the ‘Key questions for this chapter’ workbook is for homework. As students study a unit in class, they complete that section at home.

2 week scheme of learning, PPT and resources for Future Education (Stimmt! for AQA)

2 week scheme of learning, PPT and resources for Future Education (Stimmt! for AQA)

This is a 2 week scheme specifically designed for teachers using the new Stimmt! for AQA coursebook at Key Stage 4. The tasks require teachers to have access to the audio files, and students coursebook. Please be aware of this before you pay any money for it! The scheme I have written is detailed, including descriptors for good and outstanding progress outcomes for low, mid and high ability students as well as clear built-in opportunities for differentiation. It then offers lesson by lesson activities, including starters, development and plenary tasks. I wrote these schemes when we changed our coursebook once the GCSE was revised. The accompanying PPT is referred to throughout the scheme of learning by slide number and I have been through to cross-reference and check that everything is in the right order. Alongside the PPT and the scheme are 2 other resources - a vocab reference sheet based on the new 8668 AQA GCSE spec and a worksheet designed for independent work on the formal future tense. I am leaving teaching in Summer after 24 years and felt very sad that the resources and schemes I had developed would never be used, so have decided to gradually put them all on here. Takes forever but if it helps someone and gets used, I’d be happy.
