Complete GCSE Science Revision Game - ARTICULATE!

(1)
This board game is based on the hit title "articulate", with a similar playing style to Taboo! This game was adapted with a focus on Year 11 GCSE Science, with topics from all 3 science disciplines and is applicable to most exam boards. This activity acts as a great revision tool for whole classes or small intervention groups to ensure they are familiar with all the key words from across all 3 disciplines. This activity has also been used as both a starter/plenary for classes in Year 9 --> Year 11 and as a reward at the end of a term! How to use the resource? (It does work well if a class set has been printed and laminated in advance of play). 1. Students play the game in pairs (this is good for accommodating larger class sizes). There should be a maximum of 4 pairs to each board game template. 2. Each pair takes it in turns to describe as many key words (corresponding to the colour they are on, on the playing board) to their partner but... a. You cannot SPELL the word, or say how many letters it has. b. You cannot SAY any part of the word. c. You cannot use “rhymes with” or “sounds like". 3. If their partner guesses correctly, these cards are kept to the side and another is picked QUICKLY and described until the time is up! 4. Students count up their number of correct cards and move this number of spaces around the playing board. 5. Students can pass if they are unsure on how to describe the word/can not guess it! This saves time! 6. If students land on a star on the playing board - they need to describe and guess ONLY the words with a star next to them on the playing cards (this is a mixture of words from all 3 science disciplines). 7. The winner is the first pair to move their counter to the finish segment! ENJOY!! Please leave a review/feedback once you've used this resource so it can be adapted for others! GCSE Chemistry - Calculations Summary - Revision Sheet

(1)
This resource is a summary of the chemistry calculations used in GCSE Chemistry. This sheet was created for sets of both higher and lower ability, to provide them with a short version of what they need to know for each calculation. Students are provided with: 1. Name of the calculation 2. The steps needed to carry out the calculation correctly 3. Examples of the calculation (with workings!) 4. Hints and tips! This would lend itself to not only students who need to revise chemical calculations but also to Chemistry non-specialists who need to revise the steps before teaching them! (Note: I do not claim to own any of the images used in the creation of this worksheet)

The Periodic Table - Key Stage 3

(0)
This was originally designed as a lesson approaching the end of term for my top set year 7 class. Some resources have been made from scratch and others are taken from various contributors to put the PowerPoint together. Students start off with a shape sorting exercise to discuss how different shapes can be arranged, just liked the elements in the periodic table. Students then have the opportunity to understand the layout of the periodic table, re-enforced with a video. Students can then apply what they have learnt with a cartoon character themed worksheet (taken from another contibutor).

Classification (The 5 Kingdoms)

(0)
This resource is based around an independent style lesson! Students are encouraged to work independently to define key terms, and classify organisms into different kingdoms. Students should be set off to work through each task individually and then stopped at intervals to peer assess the previous task. Using post it notes with their names on should allow the teacher to identify when most students have finished the task and therefore an appropriate time to stop for feedback/assessment. Fully differentiated and resourced. (SOLO - style - I do not take credit for this style of lesson nor any of the images used throughout the documents)

This set of presentations were designed for my year 12 A-Level OCR Biology A group. They cover the topics of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates including all lesson objectives, success criteria and some OCR focused examination questions too. Could easily be adapted for other examination boards by just changing the examination questions. Students all found the presentations easy to follow and the addition of diagrams to each slide makes it very easy to follow! Please leave feedback if you've used it, and thank-you for downloading!! I do not own the rights to any of the images (taken from the OCR Biology A textbook)
