EYFS Communication & Language Adult-Led Sessions – Spring 1 Term (5 week plan)

(0)
This resource provides a five-week programme for Spring 1 of adult-led Communication and Language sessions for EYFS, designed to support purposeful talk, listening, and interaction. The approach reflects current priorities within EYFS, including a strong emphasis on high-quality adult interaction and Communication and Language development highlighted through recent Stronger Foundations guidance. The sessions are structured around four key areas of Communication and Language: • Physical communication • Linguistic communication • Cognitive communication • Social and emotional communication Each week includes four short adult-led sessions (approximately 10 minutes), ensuring all four areas are covered across the week. The sessions are not full lesson plans. Instead, they provide clear objectives, adult modelling, key vocabulary, and adult prompts to support Communication and Language development within practitioner-chosen activities. The resource also includes guidance on setting cohort-specific Communication and Language milestones, along with an example assessment grid that can be adapted to suit individual settings.
