EYFS Scissor Use ClassTracker | Physical Development | Assessment Tool
This EYFS Scissor Use Tracker supports practitioners in observing and tracking children’s developing control and coordination when using scissors as part of Physical Development in the Early Years.
In line with the EYFS Statutory Framework and informed by the principles of the Stronger Foundations guidance, this resource focuses on developmentally appropriate observation rather than fixed expectations or ‘correct’ grips.
The tracker enables practitioners to:

Why this resource works well in practice:
Simple, clear layout for in-class use
Observation-based and workload-friendly
Supports professional judgement
Reflects current EYFS expectations and Stronger Foundations principles
Ideal for use alongside cutting activities, malleable materials, creative tasks and continuous provision.
