Halloween Withes' Spells for Calm

(0)
Witches’ Spells for Calm: Halloween Breathing Activities (EYFS & KS1/2) Short summary Four playful, slightly spooky breathing spells that help children aged 4–9 draw, trace and giggle their way to calm. Includes a full session plan, flashcards, cut-out tools and a certificate. Description Bring a little calm magic to your classroom this Halloween! Witches’ Spells for Calm is a ready-to-teach breathing pack created by the breath coaches at School Breathe. Children learn four simple breathing “spells”. Each pairs a shape with a magical rhyme, so the drawing or tracing sets a slow, gentle pace for the breath. The four spells Worm Breath: draw a wiggly worm, breathing in on the way up each hump and out on the way down. Bone Breath: draw and cut out a spooky bone, breathing in along the top and out along the bottom. Bogey Breath: a giggly nostril-breathing spell, with a no-fingers version for younger children. Pumpkin Breath: trace around a pumpkin, breathing in up one side and out down the other. What’s included (14-page printable PDF) A 25–35 minute “Witch School” session plan with learning intention, success criteria and scripted prompts Breath Coach notes on safe, gentle breathing and including every child (SEND, asthma, sensory needs) An illustrated page for each spell, with easier and trickier versions Double-sided teacher flashcards Ready-to-trace cut-out breathing tools and a spell-pouch label An “Invent your own calming spell” pupil worksheet A Certificate of Calm Magic An adaptations table for EYFS, KS1 and lower KS2 Curriculum links EYFS: PSED (Self-Regulation, Managing Self), Physical Development (fine motor skills), Communication and Language (rhyme) KS1 and KS2: Health Education (mental wellbeing) and PSHE (recognising and managing feelings) Perfect for Halloween lessons, calm corners, transitions, after playtime, wellbeing sessions and nurture groups. Breath and the Brain | Ready-to-Teach PSHE Lesson | Emotional Regulation & Wellbeing (Ages 7–11) Help children understand why breathing helps them feel calm, think clearly and learn. Looking for a meaningful wellbeing lesson that children will remember long after the session has ended? Breath and the Brain is an engaging, ready-to-teach classroom resource that introduces pupils to three important parts of the brain through fun, memorable characters before teaching three simple breathing techniques they can use every day. Rather than simply telling children to “take a deep breath”, this lesson helps them understand what is happening inside their brain and body when they feel worried, frustrated or overwhelmed, empowering them with practical tools they can use both in and out of the classroom. Perfect for PSHE, Mental Health & Wellbeing, Transition Days, Calm Corners, SATs preparation and everyday classroom regulation.
