Non-Fiction Reading Comprehension Game

(0)
This pack contains a game for 1-1 teaching or small groups which focuses on non-fiction reading comprehension. The objective of the game is for players to answer 6 questions on the text, and can be used with ANY non-fiction text. Simply combine with the text of your choice for an easy no-prep lesson. I have also included some fun / silly questions. Any questions that you don’t want to use can be easily omitted. The game uses a detective theme, which adds a bit of fun to the activity. You can expand on this by adding a bit of role play, where students are encouraged to answer questions in their detective persona. This pack contains: Game board Detective badges Boy/girl detective profiles Card deck I have included designs for the card backs - simply print the cards double sided. If you don’t want to print double sided, just omit the card backs when printing. I recommend printing the cards and badges on cardstock to make them a bit stronger, or they could be laminated.

Mid Autumn Mooncake Lesson and Craft

(0)
This pack contains a complete lesson where students can design their own mooncake to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival! There are many types of mooncakes (both sweet and savoury), and they come in all shapes and sizes. Every year, restaurants, hotels, and food companies compete to come up with new and attractive mooncake recipes. In this activity, students make a paper mooncake which opens up. They design the outside of the mooncake and also draw the interior to show what flavours are being used. I originally used this with a P2 class but it is suitable for a wide range of ages. This pack contains: Lesson plan Short presentation to introduce students to mooncakes Mooncake template Take home handout on Mid Autumn Festival You will also need: Yellow or brown cardstock (2 sheets per student) White paper (1 sheet per student) Drawing materials (crayons, etc) Scissors Glue sticks or tape If you want to save paper, you can do a single layer mooncake by only printing certain pages.

Spiders of the UK Complete Lesson Pack

(0)
This pack contains everything you need to do a complete lesson on our local spider friends in the UK. The individual components also work well as part of a learning station or classroom display. I created this pack because it seems almost impossible to find child-friendly materials which focus on British spiders, meaning that a child might end up knowing a lot about tarantulas and nothing about the spiders that actually live in their house or garden! Teaching notes and suggested lesson plan Poster pack of spider posters and a banner which can be used for a display board, shown as a slide deck, or printed 4 to a page and laminated to make flashcards 3 know/wonder/learn posters Student Knowledge hunt + answer key (print double sided for self-assessment) Your favourite spider (2 differentiated versions) Spider super powers (2 differentiated versions) Read & respond (2 differentiated versions) Optional cover to turn the worksheets into a student book
