This unit of work comprises six lessons and resources including Activ Inspire flipcharts. It teaches students: *To know the names of shops in French *To use positional language to describe a town. *To know the French names of typical places in towns. *To ask for directions in French. *To write questions and statements asking for and giving directions. *To be able to understand directions in French. Although this is aimed at Year 6, my students had limited prior knowledge of French, so this could be aimed at younger or older pupils. All French is translated, so non French speaking teachers can teach this unit confidently.

This scheme of six lessons teaches beginners of French how to: *greet someone in French *understand and respond to “comment t’appelles-tu?” in French. *understand and say numbers 0 to 10 in French. *recall the numbers 0 - 10 out of sequence *understand and respond to “Quel age as-tu?” in French *understand someone else’s age in French. All Activ Inspire flipcharts and resources are included. All French is translated into English, so non-speaking French teachers will be able to teach this subject confidently. Although I used this for my Year 3 class, it is because they had done no French before, so this could be used for younger or older year groups.

Although this is aimed at Year 4, my students had only basic prior knowledge of French, so this could be aimed at younger or older pupils. In this unit students will learn to: *learn French Phonemes ou/oi/ch/eu *recap and learn new classroom commands *recap and learn new classroom objects *practise speaking in full sentences *recap and learn new phonics an/in/on/au *write sentences describing classroom objects *answer comprehension questions about a school timetable *explain their preferred school subjects Although this is aimed at Year 5, my students had only completed 2 years of French previously, so this could be aimed at younger or older pupils. Although this is aimed at Year 3 and follows on from Lesson 1 - 6, my students had only basic prior knowledge of French, so this could be aimed at younger or older pupils.
