This optional section of AQA A-level Geography specification focuses on the lithosphere and the atmosphere, which intermittently but regularly present natural hazards to human populations, often in dramatic and sometimes catastrophic fashion. By exploring the origin and nature of these hazards and the various ways in which people respond to them, students are able to engage with many dimensions. Lesson 12 Rift Valley from module "Fantastic Places" - year 7. By the end of this topic students will be able to understand the formation of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. Outcomes: Stretch- will suggest how it could change in the future. (L6) Some will begin to explain its formation using key terms (L5) Most will describe the location of the Rift Valley and its features. (L4) All will know what the Great Rift Valley is.

Lesson 14 Volcano - Mount Nyiragongo from module "Fantastic Places" - year 7. In this topic students will be able to understand why the effects of a volcano in LEDC can be worse than an MEDC.

Lesson 10 Maasai Mara from module "Fantastic Places" - year 7. By the end of this topic students should learn about the Maasai Mara Tribe and their way of life. Outcomes: Stretch- will begin to compare their culture to ours. Some- will know where they come from and their way of life. Most- will know where the Maasai people live. All- will know who the Maasai people are.

Lesson 8 Ghana Factfile from module "Fantastic Places" - year 7. In this topic students will be able to understand what is Ghana like. Outcomes: Some will be able to create a fact file/leaflet on Ghana using at least 20 facts. Most will be able to assess a leaflet/fact file according to a success criteria. All will be able to understand where Ghana is in the world, identify information about Ghana, explain what they think Ghana is like, create a fact file/leaflet on Ghana using at least 10 facts.

Lesson 11 Kenya Tourism from module "Fantastic Places" - year 7. By the end of this lesson students will be able to explain key tourism features of Kenya. Outcomes: Stretch: Students will be able to efficiently and accurately use evidence in their tasks. (Level 6/7); Some students will be able to evaluate and argue positives and negatives of tourism in Kenya. (Level 5/6); Most students will be able to describe and begin to explain ways in which Kenyan tourism could be improved.
