This is a self assessment activity I created as part of a revision process with my English B students. They read the sample essay (written by me), and identify all the errors and faux-pas it contains and write them down in their self-assessment sheet. They then write down the most important features of an essay in the column next to it. The title of each column is a reference to a movie, which is why they may sound silly.
The students can then either write their own essay bearing their own recommendations in mind, as well as the SPaG mark scheme from the last IGCSE exam in June 2017 (on page 2 of the self assessment sheet), or assess their own essays that have been previously written.
