An introduction to pronunciation and spelling of German.
Starting with the alphabet, then practicing special German phoneme-grapheme correspondences.
(The letter-pronunciation file I downloaded from TES 5 years ago, sorry I don’t recall the author)
I go through the Alphabet first, including an ABC song. Then I spell out words for them which they write down.
Then they spell themselves to their partners ("The Spelling Game) - They use the “ABC exercise insert” to help.
Then I go over “Sounds and Pronunciation” ppt, and give them the handout “German Sounds and Spellings 2”.
Then they practice saying the words from “Say theses German words”. (Use the handout, and model the words first!)
Last, we do a dictation of the sounds, in which they fill the gaps with the missing sounds: “German Sounds and Spellings”.
