The HMD 2019 Postcard Project explores the theme Torn from home. Students will learn the history and explore life stories of people affected by the Holocaust and the Genocide in Cambodia and write postcards to them. As a class you will receive a message in response.
This lesson explores the life stories of two people who were forced to leave their homes behind; Renee Bornstein during the Holocaust and Sokphal Din during the Genocide in Cambodia. Students will have the opportunity to write postcards to these survivors in response to learning about their experiences.
On HMD 2019 we mark the 40th anniversary of the end of the Genocide in Cambodia.
This lesson is suitable for use in: History, English, RE, Citizenship, or as part of SMSC/British values education.
Differentiation is built in to help you adapt activities for mixed ability groups and students with SEN requirements.
