As a species, we are averse to disease. Throughout history, this aversion has, on occasion, manifest as a murderous response to those perceived to have brought death and suffering with them. In this short film, Professor Samuel Cohn guides us through the principle reasons why certain diseases do or do not seem to incite violence. The triggers for such violence have been far from clear, with certain outbreaks of disease bringing communities together, rather than driving them apart.
