• This teaching resource explains the work of Dr Jan Mol, an expert in quantum & nanoelectronics at the Queen Mary University of London, in the UK, who is trying to understand how electricity flows through individual atoms and molecules, with the aim of one day using them as electronic components.

• The activity sheet provides ‘talking points’ (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy) to prompt students to reflect on Jan’s research, and tasks them to think about the everyday devices that rely on quantum mechanics.
