Children often struggle to identify verbs in sentences especially when the verb consists of more than one word.

This powerpoint looks at:

  • verbs in their simplest forms - eg. I have a brother
  • verbs that might not really look like verbs because they do not seem very active - eg. he is in the bathroom
  • verbs that are made up of more than one word and an explanation of the terms** auxiliary verb** and** main verb**

It is interactive and you can ask the children to answer questions individually or to work in pairs on longer more creative activities.
