A 10 question test on Whole number theory, comprising: 5 questions on procedural calculations; 3 questions on reasoning and communicating mathematically; and 2 problem solving questions. At the end of the test there is an extension activity which will allow more able students to stretch themselves. This resource is ideal for either formative or summative assessment and can be used in lesson time as a topic assessment, starter or plenary activity or for homework or revision.
Topics include:
Understand and use the terms odd, even, prime, factor (divisor), multiple, common factor (divisor), common multiple, square, cube, root.
Understand and use place value.
Identify prime numbers.
Express a whole number as a product of its prime factors.
Use power notation in expressing a whole number as a product of its prime factors.
Understand that each number can be expressed as a product of prime factors in only one way.
Find the HCF and LCM of two whole numbers by listing.
Find the HCF and LCM of two whole numbers from their prime factorisations.
