The excitement of London2012 is sure to be captured by this show and tell event, involving quick-fire innovative presentations about the Olympic and Paralympic Values. All presentations are in a 2012 format: 20 seconds per slide, 12 slides (totalling four minutes). With five such presentations (each one running on from the previous in a single PowerPoint file), and three seconds between (for a swap over of presenters), the whole 2012 quick-fire event totals exactly 20 minutes,12 seconds. Each presentation is about a different Olympic and Paralympic Value. Remember to think about not just the Value in your local environment–what it means to you, your school and community–but to put it in an international context too, by considering young peoples’ efforts around the world. For example, perhaps students will consider the Value of inspiration by telling stories of young people in Israel and Palestine who are coming together to build mutual understanding. Alternatively, perhaps they will consider the Value of courage by telling the stories of young girls in India who are working hard to pursue careers, despite the gender disparities that still exist in schooling. Whatever the Values students choose to focus on, and however they choose to illustrate them through international stories, this is certain to be a memorable and energetic event.

This would make a brilliant assembly, with possibly different form groups being given different values to focus on. It is fast-paced and has the potential to be really engaging and relevant to the school and its community.
