A campaign has been started after funeral directors feared that a WW2 RAF hero would not receive the send off he deserves. Sidney Marshall, who died on June 16 aged 90, was a rear gunner on a Lancaster bomber during the Second World War, and flew 28 missions, including a bombing raid on D-Day. Despite being a renowned veteran, Mr Marshall’s old age meant he had few friends or family left, and undertaker Eddie Jacobs fears no one would attend the service to honour the war hero.
