1 of 3 live & independent remote learning PSHE lessons on road safety for young drivers. Focusing on drink and drugs, this lesson aims to deliver the following outcomes:
- To understand the potential consequences of actions and behaviours on the road, both as a driver and as a passenger.
- To explain the possible consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
This resource can be used for live lessons delivered virtually using the lesson plan, PowerPoint and student reflection document. We have also converted it in to an independent online activity teachers can forward to students to work through remotely using Microsoft Sway. No additional software is required for Sway and it plays wells on mobile phones, tablets and PC/Mac alike.
The lesson is designed to leave young people with a positive view of driving itself, as well as a realistic understanding of the potential dangers. We want young people to gain a full understanding of the dangers and consequences of their behaviour as drivers and passengers on the road. We want to empower them with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to make informed decisions, but we do not want to deter them from driving.
These resources have been created whilst we are unable to deliver our traditional Safe Drive Stay Alive road show either in person or digitally. They have however also been designed so that they can be used to compliment the show as an ongoing consolidation of learning and to encourage behaviour change.
An excellent virtual stand alone resource to support the SDSA Roadshows. An aid to pre and post Roadshow delivery for interactive student learning and discussion individually or with peer group.
I was concerned that we wouldnt be able to visit this topic as the roadshows were cancelled- these resources help us bridge this void in a sensitive and engaging manner. Thank you
A brilliant PSHE resource - I haven't come across Sway before, it's a great format for sharing video clips and information for students to access remotely. Lots of relevant and engaging content, sure to provoke some interesting discussions - thank you.
