Use these flashcards to help students to recognize numbers to 10, in a structured form that encourages students to see patterns and relationships between numbers.
For example, looking at 6 counters on a ten frame shows that 6 is an even number, that it is 4 less than 10, is 1 more than 5, is made of two threes or three twos, and so on.
Show students each flashcard in turn, asking them to call out the number displayed. This encourages subitization, recognizing a number of objects instantly without counting.
