A slide show of Thoughts for the day for a week, with animations, literacy support and a think prompt.

The quotes are taken from religious and non-religious sources covering a wide variety of religions, cultures and backgrounds. Whilst some are from religious texts, none are overtly religious in tone and they have wide application. Quotes have been selected to be inclusive for a multicultural school community and are suitable for Years 7 to 13.

The theme of this set of slides is Community. This is the key word explained on the first day highlighted in blue and is repeated in the final message at the end each day, to help students be clear about what the focus for the week is.

Each slide starts with a picture of a scene in nature then reveals the quote.

There is then an explainer, explaining a key word, phrase or who a person is.

Finally, a box is revealed with a question for students to think about to illicit a private response to the thought. At the end, a message saying ‘Thank you for thinking about theme have a good day’ pops up to signal the end of the Thought for the Day.

Type is on pale pastel colours rather than white to support learners with visual stress or those who may be used to using coloured overlays.

Each slide is animated and lasts for one minute. The teacher simply has to click on the slide once and it will automatically play through for one minute. It works well with a minute of calm music playing - links can easily be found on YouTube.

This slide show covers 5 days

There is space at the bottom of each slide for a school strapline and at the top right for a school badge if you want to add them.
