This task booklet is the perfect opportunity for learners to work through and begin research for Task 1 Service Provision, WJEC GCSE. It will take them through everything they will need to research in relation to their chosen life stage- or it can be used generically for each life stage. This booklet will allow them to work through the different tasks in the way they would for the coursework. This allows learners to be ready for that assessment time. Learners are then able to use this booklet as their research during the assessment period. This booklet usually takes from September to December to deliver where the tasks set are for independent learning. However, this is something that can also be set as a homework task on teams where they can individually edit their own document. This has proven to be a success and a different way of delivering this part of the course. Also, due to Covid-19, this booklet can be used for assessment purposes if learners are not to complete any assessments in 2022. It provides an opportunity for all learners to gather enough research for the coursework set by the WJEC.

This resource is based on topic 1 unit 1, human growth, development and well-being. It is a PowerPoint presentation that I have created and am using for the WJEC GCSE course. This has been a helpful tool for my learners as they are able to follow slide-by-slide, visualising the work. They have found it easier working through the PowerPoint and also having access to the PowerPoint so that they can work from it from home as well as in school. The PowerPoint contains everything the learner will need to know for the topic PIES and Life stages. There are tasks within the PowerPoint for each learner to complete. As you go through the slides there are You-Tube video links which will allow you to play videos relating to the sub-topics within this unit e.g. life stages- video via Youtube to explain. Throughout the PowerPoint there are many Case Studies for learners to apply their knowledge and understanding of the topic to exam style questions as well as ‘check your understanding’ questions at the end of the PowerPoint. This is a simple tool to use for PIES and Life stages which was created from the textbook by Mark Walsh- WJEC Health and Social Care and Childcare.
