Roll it, Recap: Fractions

Roll it, Recap is a great formative assessment tool to use in the classroom. I typically use these at the end of a chapter before giving a chapter test as it allows me to quickly assess students understanding of a topic in a non formal setting. Students enjoy working in pairs/small groups, and the group work aspect of the activity encourages reflection and discussion among-st them. This worksheet requires students to be able to: Solve fractions using an LCM. Simplify fractions by grouping/factorising. Evaluate expressions by subbing in particular values of x. Write expressions as single fractions. I print these sheets off and laminate them so they last from year to year. You could also upload digitally if students have ipads. You will need a packet of die to play the game. Answer sheet included!

Snap: Sets Edition Make learning Sets fun in class with this fast-paced, brain-boosting twist on the classic game of Snap! This 32-card deck is designed around set theory, diagrams, notation, and set symbols, making it both educational and engaging for students. Players race to “snap” matching cards that share mathematical features — testing observation, quick thinking, and conceptual understanding. Perfect for playing in groups of 2 in class or even for revising sets at home. This game encourages visual recognition of set relationships and notation patterns.

Guess who - Number Systems

Ideally played with 2 players. Cards are numbered 1 - 24. Each card gives details about the properties of the number, for example; prime, even, odd, composite etc. Students have to guess the number whilst listening to the numbers properties from their partner. This assessment tool allows students to practice number properties in a game format that’s fun and engaging. It is ideal to use with first years after completing Natural numbers and Integers. Personally, I always print these cards, laminate them and store them in a small folder so they last from year to year.
