This download includes all slides and resources for a 10 lesson writing sequence, inspired by the text Gorilla by Anthony Browne. It produced very successful writing outcomes for a Year 3 cohort but could be tailored for other year groups. The writing sequence is built up of initial text exploration, where children produce short writing pieces related to the text. From Lesson 5 onwards, children plan, draft, revise and edit a sequel to the original story, in which Hannah & Gorilla head off on a new adventure!
