3 resources covering key language from Mira 1 Module 2 and Listos 1 Module 3. 1) Sheet with subjects in Spanish and pics for students to match, using cognates etc. 2 sheets can be printed 2 into 1, as font large enough. 2nd sheet has a reading exercise and explains Estudiar in present tense, first 3 persons, as in Mira 1 p.24. 2) Que estudias? Leer - reading exercise given in 2 levels (gold and silver). **Includes intro to Gustar and some opinions from p.31 of Mira 1. I have posed the questions in such a way that students can work out the meanings of the words, before having been taught them.** 3) Battleships using Mon-Fri, studio and some subjects. 3 levels given (gold, silver and bronze). **Days of the week need to be taught and practised before doing this activity** More resources will be uploaded separately, for justified opinions and teacher personalities.

5 resources, covering different skills, which can be used to create a whole lesson. All resources are intended for use with Expo 2 VERT, although could be adapted for Rouge. 1) Starter gap-fill - good starter for revision from key language covered in Year 7 and then revised on Page 6 of Expo 2 Vert. Could be done before or after the exercises on that page. 2) Reading Grid for Page 7, exercise 4 - texts to read in exercise book. There are 2 grids with Easier and More Difficult Levels. Easy one is multiple choice and other one requires answers in English. Pupils can then stick grids in books. 3) Personality Agreement Grid - Revision of Etre and some key personality adjectives from Expo 1. They are the ones used on page 7 in Expo 2 Vert. Rules explained and pupils have to fill in some feminine endings, following patterns and also need to give the English. Can do a quick Q&A of this afterwards, to get pupils used to hearing and recognising the different endings. 4) Sentence Maker in Pairs - sheet with English on left and in blue, the French on right hand side. Cut up and give to pupils to match up as an activity. Either on tables or one set each to stick in books. Extension could be to change some of the details in the French sentences. 5) Sondage - survey for pupils to do around class, using information learned from pages 6 and 7. One grid to each child and they ask questions in French and note answers in English. The info they need to give in French is under the grid and there is a line, on which they can note the French they need to say, prior to beginning the survey. There are 30 grids, 2 to a page and the details under each grid are different. Some are more difficult than others and a few are quite easy, so you can differentiate accordingly. Good idea to practise pronunciation of the questions before they start. Extension - read back answers in the 'il/elle' form, if class able to do so.

I have created this practice GCSE Foundation Reading paper, using the same themes and topics as those included in the AQA and Edexcel examinations. **This paper is shorter than the standard GCSE paper, with 5 questions, totalling 20 marks** Instructions are included on the front cover and questions are laid out in a similar style to genuine papers. The paper is in font 16, so you can print the papers on A5 for students, saving on photocopying. Topics included are, Self and Family Holidays (past tense) School Environment - recycling etc The Teacher Answers are provided on the final page, so make sure you don't print this with the paper for students! I have a Higher Tier version that I have just created, but still need to complete the Answer Sheet. It will be uploaded soon. All images are provided by openclipart.org. I hope this paper serves as a useful revision and practice tool, for your students, before their exam in a couple of weeks' time.

These resources were made for my Year 9 Spanish, using Mira 2. They could also be used for Year 8 or even as a revision tool for GCSE. The Reading texts have 2 abilities - Gold and Silver. Both include the sorts of questions that now come up in the New GCSE. The Gold one also includes some short translation. You could exploit these texts further, by asking pupils to adapt language, improve sentences or even to translate the whole text, for those intending to take Spanish at GCSE. The larger copy of the Reading can be done in pairs before completing the worksheet. Cut out the words to go in the gaps and they put them in correct places **gustan** is not used. Tell pupils one word is not used. This is to check if they understand the 'gustar' rule! To make this task harder, you could also cut up the paragraph, so pupils have to put sentences back in the correct order, before placing the words. The Comic Strip is an easier task for those who are less able. Instructions on sheet. They could then create their own Comic Strip (although I don't like pupils spending time drawing in lessons!) You could use the context of this sheet for more able pupils, by using some of the activities and times on the sheet and incorporating them into a text, which then a partner could peer-assess or translate.

These 6 resources are aimed at helping students to revise the use of Past (perfect and imperfect), Present and Future tenses, with different persons. All resources can be adapted or extended beyond their main planned purpose. Key Grammar Help - information sheet with useful tense indicator vocab, negative formation, partitive article and prepositions. Good as a reference and for revision purposes. Recognising Time Frames - reminder of clues to look for to identify tenses. Then, sentences to read and decide which tense in. Can then translate and/or adapt. Starter 3 Tense Grid - verbs in all 3 tenses. Students to colour code each tense and highlight them in the grid. Then can translate or as extension for most able, can put into a sentence. Starter 3 Tenses Sentences - a number of French sentences to read and write if Present, Past or Future. Again, can translate into English and/or adapt. 5)Language Sheet Tenses etc Mindmap - can be enlarged onto A3. Students complete examples of verbs and words under various headings. This can then be used as a resource to help with Writing and Speaking tasks. 6)Tenses Translation Sentences - past, present and future tense sentences in French to be translated into English and then English sentences to go into French. Could also be adapted to extract connectives, opinions, tense indicators etc. Perhaps change some words to synonyms or antonyms for more able.

Based on the language in Mira 2, Vamos a salir. This could also be used as a revision tool for GCSE near future tense. 1) A couple of starter activities on future tense. You could adapt these to make them harder, if needed. 2) Gold and Silver level tests on future tense on powerpoint. 3) Battleships speaking, which can be copied as a few on a pag, to save paper. It can be made harder by deleting the Spanish across the top. 4) An 'old school' dictation that pupils can do to help improve their listening and writing skills as well as their understanding of words. 5) A reading and translation, fitting with the New GCSE requirements. Again, 2 abilities.

These 3 resources all use the Preterite Past Tense and focus primarily on the topic of Holidays. They can be used with lower years, to practise the tense, after having learned the verb endings or the activities can be used as revision for GCSE pupils. Useful 'Holidays' vocab is also included. (1) Preterite spelling test - on PP in English for pupils to write Spanish. Also, there is a Word document with gaps to fill, for less able pupils. Answers are on Slide 2, under the coloured boxes, which will exit on clicking. (2) Fueron de Excursion - worksheet introducing some new infinitive verbs that are used in Listos 3 and GCSE Spanish book, when talking about Las Vacaciones. Pupils match English and Spanish, either using previous knowledge and/or near cognates, or they can use a dictionary to help. Then, they have to say if the subsequent verbs have the correct preterite endings. They need to correct any errors. (3) Holidays Preterite Paragraph Maker + Questions - the paragraph can either be made by pupils writing the sentences given, in the correct order on the lines given OR the font is size 16, so pupils can cut out the sentences and stick them in the correct order in their books (for the more kinaesthetic). Once the paragraph is complete, there is a GCSE Reading-style question, with a grid where pupils must tick the 4 correct statements, according to the text. Then, there is an Antonym exercise. I have written on the sheet that this means 'Opposites' and have given an example. I have given 4 Spanish words which are the opposites of 4 words in the text. Pupils have to find the antonyms from the text and copy them in Spanish and then, they translate these into English. This exercise helps pupils identify key language and also it helps to broaden their vocabulary. I hope these are helpful for your pupils.

5 resources, teaching the endings for Regular Imperfect Verbs, providing exercises for practice and consolidation. Also resources to help pupils learn when to use Imperfect and when to use Preterite. (1) Imperfect endings explanation sheet - explains when to use the Imperfect, gives regular endings and some regular infinitives, to then change into imperfect, for different persons. (2) Imperfect sentence making - verbs to match to endings that make sense. Then to extend sentences with details and opinions. Second part of sheet has a range of imperfect verbs and some future ones, for pupils to make the best paragraph they can, using all of this language. (3) Imperfect and preterite recognition - seeing verbs and being able to say if they are in the preterite or imperfect. Good revision of rules and endings. Followed by sentences, using both past tenses, which pupils need to translate into English. (4) Imperfect sentence maker - key verbs and possible endings given at top of sheet, as a support for weaker pupils. Followed by sentences in English, which pupils must translate into Spanish, using the vocab at the top and also other vocab already covered (or can use textbook / dictionary). (5) Imperfect and preterite sorting activity - 10 short sentences in font 48, all about a trip to London. In pairs, pupils can put into Preterite and Imperfect columns. They could then translate or adapt details. Practise changing the past tense etc.

5 Activities included for Expo 1, pages 6 and 7. (1) Introduction to new language - worksheet with grid on for students to complete. All key words from these pages are in grid, to match with English above. Mark out of 9. Students could work in pairs and complete without the book. Look for clues (appelle(s) in both question and answer etc). Encouraging Independent Learning and Team Work. *Reflection on Learning* - how do they work out this new language? What skills are used? (2) French and English vocab of same language as Word document, for you to copy and paste onto Smart / Prometheus, so students can come and move word endings and translations around, to match. Do without worksheet and books to make more challenging. (3) Gap-fill worksheet with new language. Words in bubbles at bottom. Could always delete these on a different sheet, for more able students. (4) Speaking Game with Dice (one die in pairs will suffice) - once you have practised the pronunciation, students can play this Speaking Grid Game. Extension translation activity follows. (5) Sondage - survey to be done around class. Includes instructions, grids to cut out and stick in books, which students complete during survey. Separate info cards, one per student (28 provided) to give info in French. ****This activity includes name, how they are and age - if numbers up to 20 have not been done yet, then you may want to delete the 'age' part or teach numbers first, from module 1**** I hope you find these activities useful. This activity could then be developed by working out synonyms, other language you might see or hear in texts, giving the same meaning (Higher Tier mainly). There is also a Tense recognition and adaptation exercise, requiring students to place sentences under the correct tense and to then adapt language underlined. They could also translate sentences (useful for current Year 10, doing the New GCSE). These resources are useful for Years 9-11, but particularly for Year 11, as they approach their Listening and Reading exams on the 18/19th May. Some tasks are aimed at Foundation and some are Higher. Many worksheets have been done in Font 14/16, allowing for printing 2 pages into 1. Some activities could be adapted or printed out in a larger font, to use in a game in groups or as a whole class. I hope you find these resources useful.

These 7 resources cover the topic of Holidays in French and they also include a lot on the Perfect Tense, as well as including some present, future and imperfect. Most activities are recommended for either top set Year 9 or GCSE classes, but the Starter - grid matching could be used with younger years who have covered the Perfect Tense. All skills are covered in this pack and some of them fit nicely with the requirements of the New GCSE. You may want to print the Ideas sheet and Mindmap onto A3 paper for your students.

A Lesson Plan Outline is included, suggesting how you may want to use the 5 resources included in this bundle. This pack works well for Year 7 French, using Expo 1 or Studio 1. The Starter is differentiated and throughout the lesson questions are asked of pupils to encourage them to think for themselves and explain how they work out answers. Pair and group work is also encouraged with the activities created.

A number of different resources to teach, reinforce and revise the Imperfect past tense. 1) Battleships speaking game in pairs- uses 4 different persons and Free Time activities. Fits in with Expo 3 Rouge topic of 'Il etait une fois'. Game is differentiated. One in English + pictures for more able and one with French persons, pictures with infinitive verb in French and verb endings at bottom to add on, for less able. 2) Imperfect gap-fill sheets - 3 sentences in large font, each with gaps. 8 large imperfect verbs with different persons, to fit into gaps. Can be done in teams, timed activity, cut up to be put back together, then a running dictation. Various possibilities! 3) Imperfect oral game - 30 sentences in French and English, imperfect tense. Use as a class speaking activity. One reads English. Person with correct French reads out the translation, then reads their English and so on, ending with the person who started. Good for comprehension, listening, speaking and reading skills. Some are similar, so requires good attention. Sentences are quite difficult in places, so for more able, but can be adapted easily, if necessary. Topics: Family, Free Time, Health, Jobs and more. 4) Find the Imperfect Verbs - powerpoint, 1 slide. Range of imperfect verbs with different persons, also some other verbs, NOT in imperfect. Students come to board, to circle the 8 correct imperfect ones and explain how worked them out, translate etc. This could also be printed off as a worksheet, starter etc.

4 activities to introduce and practise the language included in 'Dans mon sac', as well as 'Colours' and rules about these (gender, agreement etc). (1) Intro to Bag Items worksheet. Pictures to label, using the French vocab at bottom of page. Masc and Fem highlighted with red and blue. Labelling can be done by copying or cutting and sticking. Encourage students to match language without using book, as many words can be recognised as cognates or near-cognates. This activity gives students the independence to work out new language and to work as a team, with a partner. (2) Battleships speaking game in pairs. **Students need to know 'J'ai, Tu as, Il a and Elle a' for this** 3 levels of game (Gold - more able, Silver - middle ability and Bronze - less able). Students make sentences in French, saying what items are in a school bag. (3) Word document with 2 sets of large-font sentences in French, using bag items, numbers, colours and connectives. This could be used in different ways... a) Running dictation in 2 teams b) Cut up sentences for 2 teams and they have to re-order sentences correctly, by standing in a line and holding up the words. Give a time limit. c) Running translation in 2 teams d) Class in groups with both sentences on table. Quickest student to put hand up and give French or English that you ask for, gets a point. Extension - students could adapt details in sentences. (4) Colours Info with Bag Items - worksheet. 3 parts to sheet, can be printed 2 pages into 1 (font size 14) so students have both pages on one A4 sheet. These sheets again promote Independent Learning and not using a textbook or teacher for the most part. Get students to discuss in pairs and work out new language and patterns, rules etc. Activity 1 More difficult colours to work out by using bag items already known. Example given. Reflection on Learning box to complete. Activity 2 Using activity 1 and also cognates etc, choose correct French colours to match with each coloured shape. Example given. Reflection on Learning box to complete. Activity 3 Translation and Spot the Mistakes in sentences. Use the first 2 activities and knowledge of bag items, to complete this. One reads sentence and partner has to work out what Spanish word goes in gap. Words are given at bottom of page to help, if needed. All words are from Module 1 and many are useful to use in Module 2 as well (connectives, verbs etc)

There are 2 resources included, **Resource 1 ** 5 texts of varying length and quality, to make students think about what constitutes a high standard of written French. There is a question sheet for each text, including a couple of comprehension questions, what is good about the text and what needs improving. Students can then also suggest a grade for the text. These texts are good to show students where marks can be lost and gained in both their writing and speaking - eg: always indicate a change of tense, include justified opinions etc. Resource 2 A long text about free time activities last weekend. This is aimed more at Higher Tier and offers the opportunity to teach and practise the PDO. There are 4 tasks to complete for the text: highlighting 4 key areas of language within the text translating certain phrases answering comprehension questions in English adapting and improving sentences underlined in the text

5 activities covering Mira 1 module 2 'Tienes hermanos?' and describing hair and eyes. Also useful for Listos 1. 1) Brothers and sisters categorising can either be, a) worksheet to stick in books OR b) cut out the larger words and in pairs, students stick them onto the larger grid. 2) Mi familia y yo reading - quite difficult. has a long text and a few activities to be done with that. 3) Ojos y pelo - simpler reading. Shorter sentences and students draw what they read. If have no colours, they can use the colour symbols given for each colour. Eg: If blue eyes, each eye will be a small 'x'. A short reading at the bottom of the sheet, with multiple-choice answers. 4) Categorising grammar - Verbs, Nouns and Adjectives. Vocab covered is from Mira 1 modules 1 and 2 and is also relevant for Listos 1 module 1 and 2, apart from School vocab.

A worksheet explaining the rule for using Direct Object Pronouns in the present tense in French. The worksheet gives examples, including with a negative and then there are sentences to adapt in French, using the pronouns. This worksheet was created for Year 9, Expo 3, module 1, using types of TV programmes and time frequencies. However, it could also be used for other years, including GCSE and could be adapted easily. This sheet is good for pupils to work on together, to then explain the rule back to the class etc, rather than the teacher presenting how to use direct object pronouns.

4 resources which can be used as introduction, practice, revision and consolidation of the Preterite past tense. (1) General Preterite Gap-Fill - large font of 22, so can be cut up to complete in pairs or can be printed 2 sheets into 1. 7 preterite verbs to go in gaps are in boxes underneath. Again, could be cut and stuck into gaps, as you prefer. Different persons with AR/ER/IR verbs are used. Pupils could then translate sentences into English or change details, persons etc, as an extension. (2) El Sabado Pasado Gap-Fill - similar to format above, but there are other words for gaps, not just verbs. However, 2 words are not used. This is to check that pupils are reading carefully. This worksheet helps more, as the English is also given. You could delete this, however, if you feel your pupils do not need it. (3) Boardgame - Dice and counters required. Can be played in pairs or 3s. Pupils have to put the English into Spanish when landing on those squares. Good idea for teacher to circulate to check pupils giving correct answers. You can obviously adapt the rules I have put on the board. (4) Starter - bubbles with preterite verbs in, in different persons. Pupils need to use colours or symbols to show which verbs are AR, IR or ER. As an extension, they could translate or make sentences around these verbs. Hope these resources are useful.

Encourage to do by using cognates, near-cognates and knowledge of any patterns with another language. Both in large font, so can be printed 2 into 1. One with more general clothes has second page with reading exercise on which is in 2 levels. Gold harder (text and have to find the 4 correct statements. Text includes clothes, colours, opinions and time frequencies). Silver easier (4 sentences, choose correct details for each from A, B or C) Both have a little vocab exercise at the end, to find language from sentences/paragraph. This second sheet with the reading exercises, can easily be adapted to change some clothes vocab to school uniform clothes instead, should you want to do that. The other resource has 2 texts in large font, which can be done as a running or pair dictation. These texts also include preterite past tense (I wore) and more opinions. This could also be done as a reading exercise, as large pictures are on second page and can either be cut out to put in order mentioned in texts OR you can print the sheet 2 into 1 and students number pics and then put numbers under texts in right order. Extension could be to either ask for extra details, find synonyms or antonyms, adapt details or translate texts into English.
