This is a set of two printable sheets, one with no support and one with sentence starters to help students write about the impact of sensory impairments on a child’s development.
I created this for students on the BTEC Child development course as part of their revision for Component 3.
These sensory circuits checklists support independence for children when engaging in this intervention by providing alerting, organising and calming tasks that the child can tick off themselves. Comes with 6 different pages in total, some including equipment and some without.
A menu of sensory support ideas for all areas of sensory needs. Organised to enable a relevant selection of strategies to cater for over or under stimulation. Linked to my Sensory & Physical Teacher Guidance sheets.
Lesson includes powerpoint and resources for component 3 in the 2022 Health and Social Care course
Lesson content how physical abilities and sensory impairments affect an individuals health and wellbeing
This powerpoint presents an Autumn time poem with symbolised text. It works really well for PMLD learners and each slide can be read alongside props which are easily found in classroom and during Autumn.
Sensory Days of the Week is a great way to create a sense of chronology and pattern for young children and those with learning difficulties. This resource is an example of what I have been using as an SEN practitioner to support my students as well as a visual timetable.
A sensory circuit prompt that children can use independently. It takes the children through the 3 different stages and uses Widgits to support understanding.
A simple, photo based retelling of this Aesop fable designed for sensory students with PMLD or SLD across all age ranges. Optional links to music and short videos from YouTube are embedded in this PowerPoint. The story includes ideas for different sensory props to include and involve your students.
A sensory ladder can be used in conjunction with Zones of Regulation or as a separate resource.
Use this resource to support children in understanding their sensory needs and enhance their independence in regulating their emotion and sensory needs.
Within the resource:
advice on how to use and create sensory ladders
overview of a sensory ladder
prompt questions to use when designing the ladder with your young person.
This is a sensory story I created for my topic 'seasons'. This was written for a PMLD/ CLDD class.
I have written it with the sentence, the sense, the sensory experience and what I and my TAs are looking for and observing throughout the sessions.
Repeat story throughout the term to enable the child to develop anticipation, investigation, awareness, preference and much more.
Could also be used in an EYFS KS1 class.
Just Landed!

This version is split into 4 different aspects of Sensory & Physical difficulties - Hearing impairment/ Visual Impairment/Dysraxia & Co-ordination / Sensory.
The sheets include summaries of:
-strategies & QFT classroom ideas
-SMART target suggestions
-some useful classroom resources
-a few possible interventions
-assessments that could be used to baseline/track progress.
Communicate in Print choice board for 3-stage sensory circuit.
Stage 1 - alerting - wakes the body up
Stage 2 - organising - knowing where your body is in space
Stage 3 - calming- calm down and get ready to learn.
Laminate and cut the sheets with activities, velcro or tack on the back to put choices onto choice board.
Students should do at least one activity from each stage (in order), aim to build up to 5 minutes in each stage.
This has worked really well for my Year 13 class this year.
I hope you find it useful!
This power-point story takes students through a wonderful sensory journey through the jungle. It has a range of sensory experiences for children and young adults with SLD and PMLD. I write these stories for my own children and my dad does the illustrations. I hope you like them
