This resource has a handy A5 sized Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation (VCOP) self assement sheet. I use this with pupils after they have have completed a first draft of a piece of writing. They use highlighters matching the colours of the VCOP sheet to highlight their work, and see success as well as areas for development.

Assessment activity based on Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Focussing on AF6/7, the tasks requires children to read a summary of one of the tales, and then select which pilgrim they believe told the tale, based on their understand of the viewpoints of both Chaucer and the individual pilgrims. TAG is a form of peer assessment that I came across when looking into assessment. From it I have created this resource for the children to complete when assessing other children's work. It comes with a scaffold and I recommend that you teach the children (or model) so that the quality of peer assessing is of a good standard.

This scheme of work was created by myself. It has all resources and instructions on how to teach them. Rather than doing lesson plans I have split the teaching instructions into sections, allowing you to choose which activities to do. A resource with a guided writing frame for David Almond's novel Skellig - able year 7/8 pupils. The assessment is based on Michael or Skellig’s character. It uses Point Evidence Explain framework as its basis and prompts pupils to look for quotations on certain pages (of the issue I have, obviously).

Adapted for the NEW AQA (from 2010 onwards) Speaking and Listening assessment - easy to highlight so students can see how to improve. This one is for the 'Interacting and Responding' criteria. Useful for ys10/11.

This is an Initial Assessment for Functional Skills English It is designed to be completed by a learner, to enable tutors to gain an indication of their current level of functionality. There needs to always be a diagnostic assessment following this so that a Tracking Sheet can then be completed by a tutor/teacher to provide an overall view of the learner’s skills and allows for a “spikey profile”.
