German Grand Prix Game Starter Plenary Revision

(27)
To celebrate the German F1 Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring I have created this interactive game for my German students. Enter your own questions and multiple choice answers and watch as two teams battle it out to be the first car past the finishing line. Possible instructions on the first slide. ENABLE ALL MACROS AND REDUCE SECURITY ON YOUR PC FOR THIS TO WORK PROPERLY. I will split my class up into two teams and give everybody a mini whiteboard. Pupils will write the answer of the question on their mini whiteboard and hold it up after my count down. The team with the most correct answers will be the team who's car will move around the screen (just click on the car) Enjoy, and I look forward to your feedback :)

Fun German resource to teach rooms of the house to Key Stage 3 and 4. Initially can just be used for practice of rooms, family members and possessive adjectives, but can also be made more difficult by preventing students from naming rooms and only allowing them to name items within rooms to guess where the Simpsons family members are.

Timetable Game - German

(1)
Whole class game on the SmartBoard, reviewing school subjects, days of the week and time. Page one is a blank timetabe, page two has the English "questions": cut them up and put them in a bag. Divide the class into 3 teams. One team at a time sends up a reader and a writer. The reader must read the English (e.g. German, Wednesday, 9:05) and say "Ich habe Deutsch am Mittwoch um neun Uhr fünf." The writer must then write the subject in the correct slot on the timetable. If any teammember translates or hints, no point! If they don't get it right, the next team can try the same one. Variation One: One point if they get both the spoken part AND spelling correct. Variation Two: One point for correct spoken sentence and one point for spelling.

I crafted a powerpoint advent calendar. Clicking on each of the doors takes you to a revision question or general christmas question. After answering you return to the calendar page by clicking on the house button on the question slide. Currently filled in for a Y9 German (1st year of learning it), but easily modified for other subjects or languages. The background picture is also separate from the calendar doors, so easily swapped out for one of your liking. Merry Christmas ps - first version didn’t seem to work once uploaded. Apologies. Saved this as .ppt now, hopefully this version will work as intended.

Jeopardy/Blitz Game Tenses & GCSE/SG Topics Review - German

(19)
I got the template from another teaching website - it can be altered as needed. Macros must be enabled. Click on a box on the first page and you are transported to a page with an English sentence which pupils must translate into German. The more points, the harder the sentence. Click again and the answer appears. Click the return box and you return to the front page, where the original box will disappear to reveal a piece of the picture in the background. Record the points. I find having mixed ability groups all writing the answers on mini-whiteboards is good with this. Note: to change the picture in the background, move one box aside, right click on the picture, click Order and Move to front. Then delete it and put in your new picture, resize it, right click on it - Order - Send to back. Put the box you moved back in place.

German Foods/ Supermarket game

German 'shopping' game for learning foods and some instructions Included: -Images of food -Shopping trolley -German vocab list -Key words -Instructions -Children are paired up for the game. Each pair has a set of the food images, an image of the 'trolley', a vocabulary sheet and the word cards. Each pair is also given a whiteboard and pen. -The food pictures are placed facing upwards on the table. The vocabulary sheet and the word cards are turned over on the table so that they can't be seen. -The children label themselves A and B. Person A is the ‘customer’ and person B is the ‘shop assistant’. -Person A will write 'shopping list' at the top of their whiteboard, and numbers one to four down the side of the board. Person A randomly selects four of the word cards that are placed upside down on the table. They then write out the four words onto the whiteboard to make up the shopping list, and read them out loud for Person B, using the phrase, "Ich möchte..." (I need…) to begin the sentence. -It is then person B's responsibility to find the corresponding pictures that match the German words and place them in the trolley. Afterwards, person B says, “Ich habe…” (I have…) and then lists the food items they have in German to finish the sentence. -If either of the children struggle to understand what some of the vocabulary means, then they can turn over the vocab sheet to help them. -At the end of each person's turn, the children can also use the vocab sheet as a guide to check that the images in the trolley correctly match the word cards on the list. Afterwards, these images and cards are placed to one side, and it is the next person's turn. The activity continues until all of the images and word cards have been used up.
