I thought you might like a free version of the PowerPoint show, including the narrated stories and quizzes, to give to children. You can also point parents and children to www.memory-owl.com where they will have access to videos of all the stories. If you have a chance, please rate the content and comment so that it becomes visible to more teachers on TES Resources. I want to get this out to as many children as possible.

Memory Owl Flash Cards - hard copy

Memory Owl packs of flash cards contain 42 cards of the times tables from 2x up to 12x. They show the picture from the story on the front, and the characters and answer on the back. When I originally put the concept and book together 5 years ago, I went slightly overboard and ordered 1,000 of each flash card, as it was more cost efficient. However, since then, I have had boxes of flash cards sitting unused and unloved under the stairs, so I would like to sell them off for less than cost price. So therefore I am selling each box, containing c20 sets of flash cards, for £30 + postage. Please feel free to sell them in school to make some money for the school. If you would like to buy one (or more!), please contact me at susan@memory-owl.com. (Note: The boxes contain just the flashcards, and not the case in the photo)

Help children improve their letter formation and legibility by completing these drawing worksheets. Comprises of 5 worksheets. Each owl has a specific pattern which helps a child form set letter shapes and letters. By drawing over the dotted lines on the owls a child will be practising the essential prewriting patterns needed to form the letters of the alphabet. Owl worksheets are grouped into four patterns of different sizes. This gives children the opportunity to practice handwriting without them feeling they are doing boring handwriting worksheets. Suitable for ages: 4 to 11 years / Reception to Year 6 / Key Stage 1 and 2 About Help with Handwriting: This resource has been designed by myself, Sheilagh Blyth, using over 20 years of school-based occupational therapy experience and the latest handwriting research. The object of the game is to collect the matching pairs. Choose one rectangle and click on it. You will see a picture or a word on your card. Then choose another rectangle and click on it. If the two cards are a matching pair, click on the circle and a circle of the same colour will appear on the card. If the cards are not a match, click on the cards again and they will be turned back over. Then two new cards can be chosen. Dedicated to my beloved son Tom, who died in 2014 at the age of 17.

General Knowledge Loop cards

Suitable for form time (designed with my vertical Y7 to Y11 form in mind) - print onto card, chop, distribute cards between pupils, they keep them face up on the desk until they've read it out, then they turn it face down. Anyone with cards still facing up at the end signifies an error somewhere in The Loop! Time them and see if they can beat their own time, or against other forms. Excellent memory aid too...

French Halloween Vocabulary

Beginners French KS2 / KS3 Halloween Vocabulary (L’Halloween) 80-slide PowerPoint lesson presentation and set of 23 flashcards. Featuring key words and phrases, plus games / activities for further practice, the presentation was made for beginners / near beginners in Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 and equivalents. There’s an additional PDF version, and a PDF containing the flashcards (2 to a page). Please check the previews to assess suitability. SAVE by purchasing this alongside my French Halloween Games and French Halloween Worksheets and Puzzles, in a good value FRENCH HALLOWEEN BUNDLE. POWERPOINT Includes cultural information about the fact that Halloween is not particularly celebrated in France and that French people are more likely to celebrate ‘La Toussaint’ on November 1st. Of course, French-speaking people elsewhere do celebrate Halloween so it’s a good chance to learn some fun vocabulary. The next few slides introduce more than 20 key words, one at a time, such as spider, black cat, broom, sweets, cemetery, bat, pumpkin, scarecrow, ghost, owl, moon, haunted house, monster, skeleton, witch, cauldron etc (in French of course). Following this, slides review these words, showing an image for students to give the word, with the answer appearing on the click of a mouse. Halloween-related French phrases are also taught, such as ‘I’m wearing a witch costume’ and ‘I’m scared’ and there are also slides teaching how to say ‘There are three black cats’ and ‘There are four spiders’ etc. There’s a slide with almost all key images on the screen for students to ‘splat’ with a fly swatter or equivalent (if displayed on a whiteboard) when the teacher calls out the words in French. NEWLY ADDED FOR 2019: There’s 2 rounds of an interactive Hexagons Game, where teams compete to make a trail of correct translations of Halloween vocabulary across the screen. Finally, the last 30+ slides form the memory game ‘Kim’s Game’, which could be played in teams, with students working out which images are missing each time and giving the word in French. The additional PDF version of the presentation will help those without PowerPoint access. It allows you to teach the vocabulary but does not retain the mouse-click interactivity of the original. The Hexagons Game also does not work without the interactivity and has therefore been omitted from the PDF version. FLASHCARDS Most of the Halloween words (23 in total) feature on these for classroom display. Please check out more of my work: Huge Basics Bundle **Thank you for your interest. PRIMARY SPANISH ANIMALS I HAVE WHO HAS?

(1)
PRIMARY SPANISH AND IDEAL FOR YEAR 7 TOO! PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING AND PRACTISING LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTISING ANIMAL VOCABULARY AND GENDER IN SPANISH - 30 ANIMALS, TWO GAMES AND CHALLENGES! I HAVE, WHO HAS? is a great language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the animals images, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in SPANISH! It’s a whole-group communicative game, with a multi-skill focus on speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary-building and developing accurate pronunciation. The game really does help to create a lively language learning environment, and is a great alternative to more traditional ‘drilling’ activities. It doesn’t matter if some of the words don’t feature in your immediate or longer-term learning plan: the aim of the game is to encourage children to engage happily and confidently with both the written and spoken word in SPANISH. The game works well during your work with the animal kingdom in SPANISH, and as an all-year-round starter and refresher game - along the way, children may even get to know some new animals! There are two games, and two challenges: CHILLOUT CHALLENGE with the words written out in full in alphabetical order CHAMPION CHALLENGE with the words in topsy-turvy order, and with only the first letter given, which is great for a memory work-out, and really encourages children to focus on the individual words, as well as the gender of each word. There is a visual prompt to help children remember the correct word. There are 30 animals in the set, focusing on the indefinite article, and including both masculine and feminine, which is a really useful engagement with the concept of gender: = bear = bee = bird = bull = cat = cow = dinosaur = dog = donkey = elephant = fish = fox = frog = hedgehog = horse = giraffe = goose = kangaroo = lion = mouse = owl = panda bear = polar bear = rabbit = rat = sheep = snake = spider = whale = zebra The product is copyright, all rights reserved.
