Happy new year! Welcome 2026 by encouraging your pupils to reflect on the past year, and decide on goals for the New Year. This foldable activity is a great way to start January with positivity and a good mindset. It’s also a fun alternative to a New year Worksheet! This resource contains the following: A PDF with 3 similar templates, with identical prompts. A PowerPoint file with 3 templates to write your own prompts for students. These can then be printed for students to complete and fold. A Google Slides link (in the PDF) with 3 blank templates to write your own prompts for pupils. As above, this can then be printed for pupils to use. A picture to help with folding The prompts on the pre-written template are: My best memory of 2025 My proudest moment of 2025 Someone who made me smile in 2025 This year, I’d like to learn more about… My 2026 goal at home is… My 2026 goal at school is… The month I’m most looking forward to in 2026 Something I can do for others in 2026 is… Pupils colour their template, write/draw their responses in the blank spaces, cut, and fold. US and UK spelling and paper size included.

New Year, New Goals: Student Resolution Templates

Kick off the school year or the calendar year with intention! This resource provides two unique New Year Resolution Templates designed to help students reflect on their growth and set achievable goals. Whether they prefer broad categories or a month-by-month plan, these templates make goal-setting organized and fun. What’s Included? Template 1: Categorized Goals – This layout helps students think about different areas of their lives with specific prompts, such as: I want to learn a new thing… I would like to visit… I want to get better at… Template 2: Monthly Roadmap – A strategic layout designed for students to write a specific resolution for each month of the year, encouraging long-term planning and consistency. Why These Templates Work Scaffolded Reflection: The prompts in Template 1 guide students who might feel overwhelmed by a blank page, giving them a clear starting point. Time Management: Template 2 teaches students how to break down big ambitions into smaller, monthly “bites.” Neatness and Pride: These templates are designed to be kept in a folder or displayed on a bulletin board. Because these are personal goals, it’s a great time to remind students that bad handwriting could take away points (or simply make their goals harder to read later!). Writing neatly shows they take their resolutions seriously. Perfect For… First Week Back in January: A perfect “Welcome Back” activity to get students focused. Growth Mindset Lessons: Teaching students that they have the power to improve their skills. Personal Portfolios: A great artifact for students to look back on at the end of the school year. Teacher Tip: Encourage students to use their best penmanship when filling these out. Clear writing helps clarify their vision for the year ahead!
