Excellent animation to bring life in delivering maths concepts, accessible to all. This presentation will boost your confidence and enthusiasm in maths.
Very useful for audio visual learners.
This is a complete resource pack for teaching coordinates and transformations objectives in KS2. Included is an 81 page flip-chart (I have uploaded in ActivInspire, PowerPoint and PDF format) to help deliver the lessons, a 49 page booklet of differentiated activities including games, worksheets and assessments. I have also included a 7 page planning tool so that you can copy and paste plans into your own planning format and adjust as you wish for each activity. Furthermore, I have included Word versions so you can adapt all activities to your own pupil’s needs if required. This pack will save you hours and hours and hours of planning and generating worksheets, games, activities, flip-charts and assessments. NOW ADDED: Random generator for plotting and describing coordinates (Excel)
Objectives covered:
Describe positions on a 2-D grid as coordinates in the first quadrant
Describe positions on the full coordinate grid (all four quadrants)
Plot specified points and draw sides to complete a given polygon
Describe movements between positions as translations of a given unit to the left/right and up/down
Identify, describe and represent the position of a shape following a reflection or translation, using the appropriate language, and know that the shape has not changed
Draw and translate simple shapes on the coordinate plane, and reflect them in the axes

These worksheets are ideal resources for visual learners to learn how to recognize symmetrical shapes. Kids need to focus to perfectly recreate the shapes on the right. Each image contains a line of symmetry, providing the perfect opportunity for students to practice identifying and creating symmetrical patterns.
Teachers can use this product in various ways, from whole-class instruction to independent or small-group activities. It can be used as a warm-up exercise, a math center activity, or even as an assessment tool to evaluate students’ understanding of symmetry. A great addition to your math activity worksheets.
You will receive a PDF with 13 pages.
This resource is comprises of two pages. Children are asked to draw the reflection of polygons in a given mirror line. They then have to write the coordinates of the reflected shape (first quadrant only). They are then presented with more shapes alongside their reflection and have to identify and draw the mirror line in the correct place.
Suitable for upper KS2 or lower KS3

Draw the reflection of the 10 different Christmas shapes on a pair of + axes.
The line of reflection is always the y-axis (vertical).
The Christmas shapes vary in difficulty:
Present (Easy)
Message from Santa (new for 2024)
Tree
Bauble (Medium)
Pudding NEW!
Snowman
Santa (Hard)
Reindeer
Angel
Cracker NEW!
Snowflake (Expert)
Once students have completed the reflection, make sure they decorate it!
One example of each are provided which can be useful to help students finish them.

I've always thought that graph transformations is a difficult topic to teach well from a textbook, that's the reason I created these worksheets so my classes could practise sketching the transformations without having to draw axes or try to copy the original curve.
This worksheet has examples and an exercise which focuses on reflections but some questions also involve translations.
The examples are designed to work through as a class and then the rules for the different reflections can be completed.
There are 7 pages of questions for students to complete, including sketching the transformed graph and stating the equation of a transformed graph.
All answers are included - I usually project these so that the whole class can check their answers.
This pack includes 38 PDF printables, mastery, extension and resource cards, 34 slide PowerPoint presentation and PDF printable answers. The packs provide a concrete, pictorial, abstract (CPA) approach helps pupils to develop a deep understanding of maths as part of mastery learning all designed for the 2014 curriculum that can be differentiated as detailed below:

An introductory worksheet designed for children working at level 2 or 3 of the national curriculum or for older children to revise from. Children shade in the squares to reflect the pattern at the other side of the “mirror”. Topics also included: understanding space and shape; Reflective symmetry.
Worksheet on reflection of shapes through lines on an axis. Exam style questions!
Three exercises involving drawing a specific horizontal or vertical line on an axis, then reflecting the shape, reflecting a shape through a diagonal line and finding and naming the line of reflection from a reflection.
Hope this helps some of you save some time and effort in a worksheet heavy topic!

Introducing our Year 6 maths PowerPoint on understanding coordinates. This comprehensive resource covers the basics, from defining coordinates and reading them to understanding the x and y axes and exploring 4-quadrant grids. Additionally, students will learn about reflecting shapes across the coordinate plane. With clear explanations and interactive examples, students will develop a strong understanding of fundamental coordinate concepts and their application in geometry.
This is a whole lesson on Reflection. It comes with fantastic teaching slides and some excellent links to real life. It looks at basic reflection, 45 degree reflection as well as linear graphs (parallel lines to the axes) as often you need this knowledge to draw mirror lines. This lesson is ready to go, with no prep required. It is also great for home learning. 28-slide presentation + resources.
The lesson comes with:
+ a Starter (review of translation)
+ Learning Objectives (differentiated)
+ keywords
+ superb teaching slides (lots of custom animation)
+ lots of examples of different types of reflection
+ teaching slides on linear graphs (parallel lines)
+ worksheet (with answers)
+ Plenary (transformation poster for student notes)
ALL LESSONS on Transformations are available as a BUNDLE from the link below or All LESSONS on Geometry in one MEGA BIG Bundle:

A lesson on reflection. This can be used as remote learning or you can print off the worksheets. This resource includes examples with increasing difficulty. It allows students to focus on the 5 key aspects of a good lesson:
What are we learning?
Why are we learning it?
How do I learn it?
Where can I go for help?
Opportunity for success.
Leave a review once you have used it.
Thank you.
Used with a mixed ability Year 3 class on reflection of shapes. There are 3 differentiated levels within the document and children should be encouraged to use a mirror and ruler.
A series of lessons on Reflecting Shapes. This lesson gives pupils enough opportunity to master the fluency, however gives them the chance to use an apply these numbers in varying contexts
All tasks include reasoning, problem solving aswell as mastering the fluency of the topic. All tasks include full solutions and worked examples so that pupils can self and peer mark. All tasks are fully differentiated to either 2/3/4 levels.
A PowerPoint introduces "Reflection" and this is followed up with a worksheet explaining the process and a second worksheet, with answers, to consolidate the topic. The resources are suitable for Years 5, 6 and 7.
This National Curriculum KS2 Maths 4-lesson unit of unit reinforces the pupils' understanding of reflection, introduces translation and then combines the two concepts.
Each lesson contains warm-up exercises and resources - everything is ready for print and learning!
The original file is a flip chart, and I have also created a PDF version which is also located in this download.

This is a reflection puzzle on coordinate axes in the topic of transformations.
Students have to use their understanding of horizontal and vertical lines and the lines y = x and y = -x to reflect the shapes to form a word.
