Notes: The lessons follow the Higher textbook mostly, scaffolding down for the lower ability students. Where resources have been directly taken from the book, they have been blurred a little so you can add them from your own textbook.
Teacher notes are written at the bottom of each slide to explain the activities where needed, how to differentiate them for the lower ability students and find the correct resources from the original textbooks.
This imaginative sample answer transports readers into a mysterious, futuristic school where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur. Opening with the line “It was an unusual school,” the story unfolds in an extraordinary environment where classrooms float, teachers communicate telepathically, and students possess supernatural abilities. As the protagonist navigates this unfamiliar world, they uncover deeper mysteries that leave a lasting impression.
In this piece, students can observe the use of vivid descriptions, sensory imagery, similes, and metaphors to create a captivating atmosphere. The writer skillfully employs personification, making the school itself feel alive, and incorporates foreshadowing to build suspense, keeping the reader engaged.
This digital file is an essential resource for students preparing for the GCSE/IGCSE English Language exams. By closely analyzing this sample, students will gain a deeper understanding of how to craft compelling, imaginative narratives. It demonstrates the effective use of language techniques required to score top marks. Whether it’s learning how to describe settings vividly or mastering character development, this resource is a powerful tool to refine creative writing skills. Perfect for exam revision and practice, it’s an invaluable asset for achieving high grades.

An activity I made suited for year 8 (KS3).
The activity includes three key elements of the ratio topic: Simplifying ratios, Ratios as fractions & Dividing into ratios.
The activity works by printing off the cards and sticking them around your classroom or in an open space. Let the students pick which colour questions they want to answer/revise. Each answer has a letter and after they have gathered all the answers/letters they have to unscramble the word!
Good fun and something different to help get them moving and motivated!
