Two-hour lesson, jam-packed with information the best ways to revise (as well as how and why) and the most common revision pitfalls, and why these don’t work. Students will complete tasks where they try out the very best methods, critique their current revision strategies, and put new plans into action which integrate all of the new and improved ideas. A revision timetable is included, where students can not only plan their time - but also add in HOW they intend to use the best revision methods they have learned about, during that time (plenary task). An emphasis is also included on sleep, healthy eating and exercise in the months leading up to the exams, to ensure maximum performance. Celebrate Christmas this winter with your secondary students with this 64 question Christmas quiz for 2023 themed around the event complete with answers in both quick and question by question format. This resource is 64 question Xmas quiz spread across 8 different rounds. It is created on Microsoft Powerpoint and suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students. Whats included? Within this resource there are 64 questions spanning 8 rounds. A mixture of multiple choice and true/false question types are included. In addition there are puzzler rounds with activities such as dingbats, keypad anagram problems to solve, matching pairs and celebrity Santa disguises. Topics range from fantastic facts about Christmas to movie trivia and popular Christmas songs and beloved carol questions. Your learners will have so much fun engaging with this quiz. Delivery and timings The answers can then shared as a class either by going through each question individually (ensure you are in present mode for the correct answer to colour green) for students to peer or self mark. You could alternatively use the quick answer quiz sheet variation of this quiz if you would prefer to speed things up! Additionally, answers to each individual question can be found on the notes section of each individual PowerPoint slide. An answer sheet has been created for students to use with this quiz to ensure they stay on track. If you choose to deliver this in a single session - it should take around an hour to complete. This fun and original assembly aids children in understanding the value of being creative in all of their endeavours, through: Understanding what creativity is, and recognising why it is such an important skill; Understanding that creativity is a trait within everyone (including themselves) that should be encouraged and harnessed; Observing some amazing examples of what creativity can result in; Learning strategies to demonstrate creativity in their own lives. This assembly is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes a fun role-play task to demonstrate how everyone can be creative and the internet link to a beautiful, thought-provoking video demonstrating the power of creativity. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to understand how they can be creative in different areas of their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This assembly is based on the book by prof Steve Peters. It explains what the book is about and helps students to understand how they can change their mindset when reacting to situations. It is 16 slides in length, fully editable and includes information, questions, scenarios and video’s. There are notes with the slides to help the delivery of the content. I have presented this assembly with 6th form, KS4 and KS3 students and adapted it each time to aid understanding. I have also presented this to staff as part of a CPD course. It has been hugely successful every time I have presented it. UPDATE - I have now uploaded a new version due to there being a couple of spelling errors on the previous version.

This is a 10 slide assembly all about aspirations and aiming high. It also includes a couple of very powerful videos. Alongside the assembly is a script that you can follow (word document or in the notes section of the powerpoint). Slide 1+2 - Introduction and talking about two paths that students could go down (good or bad) Slide 3 - Get the basics correct (asks the students are they on time to school, behaving, giving 100% effort etc.) Slide 4 - Definition of aspirations. This CPD session offers an engaging and original approach to improving behaviour management practices. Grounded in educational research, this CPD session is interactive, well-structured, and has been successfully tried and tested. This informative and engaging double lesson aims to improve students’ ability to compare and contrast two different texts based on a similar subject. They will focus particularly on the purpose, audience, language, and structure of texts, and will learn to use comparing and contrasting connectives to highlight any similarities and differences. This has always been a crucial skill in English, but has an increased importance in the new GCSE for English Language, as there is a greater requirement for students to be able to make links and comparisons between texts. Here is a collection of timers for use in any lesson. They are simple and (I think) quite attractive. No bumph, just timers with a couple of example slides. They range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes but can be extended very easily. Runs as PowerPoint so slides can be copied or objects copied for use in any lesson. Completely original and distributable material.

These seven colour monster inspired feeling cards are a great way to assess how the children are feeling throughout the day. It is another great way of getting children to use synonyms for words such as ‘happy’ or ‘sad’. There are seven characters available - can either peg children’s names on or put them in a jar etc.
