House Tutor Training and Intervention Bundle

4 Resources
House Tutor High 5 Intervention - This is a simple yet very powerful intervention initiative that I have devised and am currently running with my Year 11 team. It will impact 15 students per House Tutor Group. This will support the students who need it, intervene with students who are struggling in a number of subjects, reward those who deserve it and challenge those who require it. Worksheet (for staff to complete) and PowerPoint explaining how the intervention works are both attached. This really has a huge impact on my students with not a great deal of added work. Really worth a try! Disadvantaged Students Staff Training - A presentation informing staff: - What makes a student disadvantaged - Slides for school specific data - Why disadvantaged students are so important to schools? - Barriers to Learning - Fairy Tale Story (also used in my stereotypes assembly on TES) to challenge staff stereotypes - The story relates to PP students and how they are all very different (High Attainers, etc.) - Ofsted requirement How to be an effective House Tutor - I delivered the attached PowerPoint to my team of House Tutors with great success. It highlights the expectations of them whilst supporting them with understanding what they need to do. I also introduced Student Responsibilities into our Tutor Time. Each student selects (or is given) a responsibility. The students really took their responsibilities seriously and it made Tutor time run much more efficiently whilst taking the pressure and workload off of the teacher. I have attached the Powerpoint to help introduce this to staff and a word document for Tutors to record responsibilities. The English Premier League Rewards Scheme - I use this with some unengaged students in my year who love football. Each student picks a team at random and gets points on how that team perform each weekend. They also gain points for behaviour, attendance and positive comments. They lose points for bad behaviour, poor attendance and negative comments.
