This was created with a very wide ranging ability group. It has several levels of 'closure' and allows for differentiation and personalised learning for pupils without them feeling either patronised or discriminated against. This type of worksheet is usually produced during a lesson with input from pupils. Pupils choose the words to remove and put into boxes. The sheet can then be copied and differentiated. This can be used as a homework (paper) and then students enter their results on to the same file opened on a whiteboard, they can mark each others or their own. This has proved to be very motivating. I suggest that you change the .xls extension to .xlt before use. As an xlt it can be placed on a VLE as a self marking exercise for revision or differentiation by task. A template of a teacher devised assessment (TDA) for Entry Level Science. It can be delivered to year 10 or 11 students either as part of a stand alone course or as a differentiated task for those in a GCSE Science group who struggle to achieve. This is not an official AQA resource but is based on materials that have been extensively trialed by the author on previous courses. This is aimed at AQA 5960 single and double award for teaching from September 2016 and First examination in 2018. The file TDA-Component1-Caffeine.doc is aimed at the Human Biology Component 1. Students can achieve in all five skill areas at each of Entry 1, 2, and 3. The resource has teacher notes and instructions, student response sheets, assessment guidance and forms as well as some sample data. The Falling-Object-Converter.xls is a whiteboard or PC resource that allows entry of results from catching a falling meter rule and outputs a time in milliseconds. .

This sheet can be used as part of an IEP in science. It is suitable for mainstream and special needs at every level including gifted and talented. It lends itself to differential planning for specific pupils. I use it to inform support assistants and students about what is expected. They can then contribute ideas and comments in the relevant places. This is AFL formalized and can be a powerful tool for individualized teaching and learning. 7K Have the class blow up balloons and let them go. Ask, 'Why do they zoom around'. Discus and end up with a diagram of balloon cross section with pressure arrows on the board. These 'close' sheets are differentiated at 4 levels. They are motivating and well received by pupils.
