It is great for KS3. I buy normal bingo tickets which have 15 numbers between 1 and 90 on them. Each member of the class gets a ticket and crosses off the answers as the questions get answered. The questions cover a range of topics from basic calculations, number knowledge, substitution and shape and angle facts. I normally go around the room and ask each student in turn, listing the responses on the board as we go (so I check the winner). A full house wins the prize. You will find that all of the students are trying to do the maths as the questions progress as they want to cross the answers out on their sheet.

Split students into groups, giving each group a copy of the distances. Display the different stadiums around the room. Give each team a different country to caluclate how many land miles they have to travel for their group rounds. They will also have to look at the dates and work out the order of the games. Which team has to travel the furthest? The grid of land miles can be used for anything you like. I took all of the pictures out as I wasn't sure about copyright. So you may wish to add pictures of the stadiums and a map of Brazil to make the resource look more lively.

This resource can be used (and adapted) for any class working on ratios. The sheet just provides a list of money option which the students play for. How to play: Student 1 picks the amount to play for. Student 2 rolls the dice twice. The first number is their ratio share and the second number is student 1's share. They then work out how much money they have won and bank it. (I normally do this on a mini-white board). That value gets crossed off and they move onto the next swapping rolls. At the end of the time, the student with the most money wins a prize. You can make it more interesting especially if you use the card with negative values on it. The student rolling could pick their share after the die has been rolled twice. This promotes discussion about whether you want a big or small share of the amount you are playing for. It is best with 2 or three players per team.

Pupils either individually or in pairs make a selection of different size fractions to investigate sizes and relationships between fractions. I chose to get them to split plates into 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8 and 1/12. All of the plates I gave to pupils had the centre marked with a radius drawn. Using a protractor and their angle knowledge they then constructed the fractions. For my pupils who were slower at measuring angles I had plates with more lines drawn in. Each fraction was labelled and cut up. Pupils then worked through the worksheets to see what they could find out.

The check-up covers the algebra topics of : Forming, Substituting, Expanding, Simplifying, Factorising, Solving and Sequences. I have tried to make the revision session progressive so they build on their skills as they go through. Each sections starts with more basic practice and develops to a couple of problem solving and reasoning questions.
