Model Answers for AQA 9-1 Yr 10 Required Practicals

(1)
This is a set of model answers for the Yr 10 required practicals on the new AQA 9-1 course. Each write-up includes hypotheses, method, results, graphs (if applicable), conclusion and evaluation. Excellent to use for Peer/Self Assessment, saving you hours of marking time. If you have any suggestions about other improvements or alternative methods which could be added that would be greatly appreciated. They have already been successfully used within my department.

This is designed to be taught over 18 lessons. There are 3 sections per science, which should be taught over 2 lessons. There are marking grids, differentiated worksheets/activities, and homework for each section. The over arching idea is that an old coal power station is being decomissioned, so a new power source needs to be developed on a currently undeveloped site. Biology focuses on biodiversity/food chains etc, chemistry looks at the atmosphere and combustion and physics focuses on the different types of energy resources available.

I have produced a range of practical tasks students can complete with everyday equipment found in the home. Each practical focuses on a different aspect of scientific investigations and comes with a PowerPoint and write-up instructions. Most are designed for 2 lessons (approx 2 hours) although there are a couple of stand alone lessons. Can be taught in any order and, whilst designed for KS3, could be used for KS4
