A short story setting for a mystery. The text includes the types of sentences that would be appropriate for Y5 / HA Y4. Pupils can use it to text mark and find the features of a good mystery story setting/ pull apart the authors choices . The second task is a series of sentence strips which would al be found in a good mystery setting. Pupils can be given these in an envelope and work in pairs to find the five they think are the most effective. They then need to justify their opinions. the sentences fall into several categories and model relative clauses, the use of personification, short sentences for tension, well chosen synonyms etc.

Detailed medium term planning to support the teaching of all aspects of the forces part of the science curriculum. This links directly to the Smart board slides for each lesson also available here. Running alongside these is an investigation scaffold sheet to support the structure of the investigations pupils complete. The Smart board slides have had all moving gifs and pictures/ photographs to avoid copyright law. It will take a few minutes to replace these for anyone who wished to.

A series of tasks which relate to vocabulary , plot and character aimed at those working independently ( either partly or wholly) in stages through a short novel. This is a pupil self direction sheet which gives a range of activities guiding them through the book. It has been used very successfully in guided reading sessions with HA pupils who have worked through this.
