TEFL: English Lesson for Beginners. I first developed this resource for the purposes of assessment during my TEFL Course. The lesson plan, therefore, is clear and crisp, and follows the pattern of presentation, production and practice of 8 different modes of transport, designed for a mono-lingual group of children aged between six and eight: all possessing the same ability at Beginner level. The sole primary objective/s of the lesson is -to enable students to understand and use the vocabulary to indicate transport and travel. -identify different means of transport: aeroplane, bus, train, car, rocket, bicycle, boat, walk/on foot. There is also a document explaining the logic, implementation and thinking behind the lesson plan. I know that this lesson plan took time and thought and therefore, decided to share to aid, inspire and assist other TEFL teachers.

This lesson is designed around the topic of Movies, which personally, my Year 10 Chinese ESL students absolutely engaged in and adored. The lesson is structured around teaching different movie genres- some which the stronger students may know already if in grade 10, however, this lesson may easily be used in year 9 too. Students particularly enjoyed identifying movies they have watched according to pictures in the presentation, watching a movie scene from Zootopia, and answering questions on the scene as a competition. Learner Objective(s): Students are able to use the target vocabulary appropriately and with the correct pronunciation.: Genre 2. Action 3. Romance 4. Comedy 5. Horror 6. Sci-fi 7. Documentary, 8. scene and 9. Trailer, Furthermore, students should use target vocabulary and English in general confidently and with ease. Included is a comprehensive lesson plan and ready to go presentation. My presentation includes a review of words at the beginning of the lesson I have covered previously, however, the picture and words may easily be replaced to tailor to your students needs. This colourful worksheet allows students to fill in their names and birthdays, circle their favorite items/hobbies and colours, and add any additional information they wish. I made this worksheet as a warm-up lesson component for new students in new classes that I’ve never taught before, so that they can first complete the worksheet and present their preferences to the class. This allows the students to become familiar with each other, and in turn, for me to learn their personalities. Can be used as: Lesson warm-up for new classes Student introductions Worksheet completion for units on “All About Me” N.B The question mark icon under the “What I like” section can be used to denote items the students liked that are not pictured. If their writing ability is developed enough-depending on your age groups-you can tell them to list the items they like under “About Me” block. I used these for my new classes to middle school learners in a Chinese training school.

Although these can be used in a variety of age groups and English curriculums, I used this in a year 6/7 grammar class to ESL students, to demonstrate the different uses and purposes of the contrasting words, which are easily confused. I handed these as printouts, and talked the students through each use and example.
