A great PowerPoint and resource bundle, all focusing on the character of Lady Macbeth. Included:
- Powerpoint looking at character, key quotation, and how they would cast Lady Macbeth (2-3 lessons)
- Another Powerpoint where students can choose how they would 'outfit' Lady Macbeth (I had students cut and stick each garment - there's hairstyles, dresses etc.- onto paper, then do a S&L presentation explaining their choices.) (another 2-3 lessons)
- A worksheet asking students to look at the different persuasive techniques given to the character's speech
- The sleepwalking scene is included
- A cloze activity, translating the sleepwalking scene
- An analysis 'mind map style' to break down the meanings within the sleepwalking speech.
At KS3, this could easily be used as an 'introduction' to cover the character of Lady Macbeth, and completed analysis and exploration of an important Shakespearean character.
At KS4, this is a helpful resource bundle for lower-mid ability students, who might need support and these resources to 'break down' the analysis of a character, and key quotations with ideas.
Using as an introductory task, steering students to the finer details of grammar and analysis - in a fun and straightforward way. One note. Three suspects… WHODDUNNIT?

I’ve created a step-by-step guide to help my lower ability students, struggling to grasp the basics of quotations. The guide includes step-by-step ACTIVITIES alongside each 'teaching note.'

A comprehensive and developed 62-slide powerpoint to revise or teach A Level English Language theory and concept. This includes 15 theorists, as well as links, references and documents to further support students’ learning and revision. I have designed this with the OCR spec in mind, and made this resource relevant and up-to-date (edited 2022) ready for exams and application across the English Language course.
Here are 36 ‘ready-made’ key quotations flashcards for An Inspector Calls. All you students need to do is cut, fold and glue them back to back to be ready to test themselves - or one another! Could be a great group or paired activity if used in class. Could also be good for Google classrooms where students could use these at home if they print independently.
Each character is colour coded and page or act reference is included.
There are 2 fully scaffolded essay plans here, with the lesson PowerPoints included. They have worked brilliantly with my class who needed support to get into the swing of academic writing at the start of Year 10 (2022).
Designed for 2x double lessons (4 hours).
I get students to use polo mints during their planning time - a colleague’s great idea (once the polo mint has reduced, it’s time to write!)
This is a 5-page guide for students to use with A Level English Language theory/theorists and to cover the concepts strands. The guide includes names, with reference to the most ‘famed’ work, links to blogs and also quotations.
I also include a 2 page ‘theorist matrix’ to support students in posing critique and poising theorists against one another to see whether concepts and ideas are similar or different.
A resource and lesson I have made for students to understand the concept of a Byronic hero, as well as a worksheet guiding them to create their own Byronic hero. I have also made a ‘flowchart’ for ‘are you a Byronic hero’ as an engagement/just for fun 5 minute aspect… (most of my yr9 class thought they were Byronic hero types).
Ready-made 15 slides for 15 weeks’ worth of revision (give or take you’ll want to edit/opt in and out of parts), but the framework is in place, with a sequence and series of revision activities to keep your English Language students scheduled with their revision!!
