<p>This activity is designed for a Year 7 class as an introduction to Chinese music/culture and the pentatonic scale. There is a short listening activity based upon the Dance Song of the Yao Tribe (which was used in the film the Prince of Egypt - the melody of the song When You Believe).</p> <p>A selection of Chinese instruments are introduced alongside more cultural aspects such as Chinese Festivals and the five sacred elements.</p> <p>An information sheet is included with a link to the musical extract.</p>

<p>A listening activity for KS3 students to introduce them to the brass instruments of the orchestra.</p> <p>This activity aims to introduce KS3 students to the trumpet, french horn, trombone and tuba through the use of John Williams’ ‘Qudditch’ movement from his Harry Potter Children’s Suite (the link to the YouTube video is included in the document).</p> <p>Other musical terminology is included such as major and minor and a selection of Italian tempo words with their English equivalent.</p> <p>Finally, students will be required to complete a paragraph based upon features of brass instruments.</p>
