Prime Decomposition to Find LCM and HCF

(3)
This is a wee task to help students get familiar with the process of finding the lowest common multiple and highest common factor between two numbers using prime decomposition. I did not know Venn diagrams had to be circles so I have uploaded one with circles and one with rectangles. I just prefer rectangles as for me, they are easier to draw :)

Perimeter / Area of Compound Shapes (Rectangles and Triangles)

(0)
This is a task to help get started finding the Perimeter and Area of Compound Shapes. The goal I made here is to help pupils use logic to help find the missing values and show the steps involved to split the shapes into 2 parts and then select the correct values in order to find the area.

Secret Maths Display

I have noticed in class I have said these lots of times so thought I would put it up on the wall. It is quite nice to explain/remind pupils of these “secret” rules and having a display has helped. I printed mine on a different coloured page for each secret. I got the letters from instantdisplay.co.uk

Finding Missing Side of a Triangle Task

(0)
This is a task to help students become comfortable using two methods of finding the area of a triangle. I have intended to give them the opportunity to decide their preferred way on how they can work backwards to find a missing side in a triangle given the area. It is a short task and I have deliberately used simple numbers to keep the numeracy work low and focus more on the mathematical process. For extension I suggest getting student to make as many different triangles as possible for the last question. To be really mean try putting 360cm^2 on the board :)
