This resource was created as part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK, a celebration of creativity that took place in 2022 across the four nations of the UK. Ten projects brought together science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths, to create unforgettable experiences in person and online for an audience of 18 million. This resource has been created as part of UNBOXED’s GALWAD project. Planet: It’s not enough to look after ourselves and our communities - our planet needs us. A news report from the future warns of very high temperatures, and Efa tells us about how flooding affected places she visited in future Wales. Big changes like reforestation could make a huge difference, as we learn from the excellent Size of Wales, and an interactive game will prove that ordinary things like mushrooms and seaweed can also have an extraordinary impact. There is the recording of a live Q&A with wildlife photographer Ben Porter, who shares his passion for conserving the plants and animals around us. Story Gardens - an activity to design an upcycled, small scale, sustainable food growing space that also tells a story. Future Fungi - find out how important fungi could be for our future, with an activity to learn about how fungi communicate across large distances. Future Innovators - using inspiration from young people globally, this activity challenges students to become the problem solvers and inventors of the future. Resources available in Welsh.

What advances have been made over the last thirty years in technology, communication and society? And why is it important to imagine the future? Hear about the amazing work done by the Centre of Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, and exercise your brain and your body with some History Yoga! There is also the recording of a live Q&A with Orri Páll Jóhannsson, a member of parliament in Iceland, one of the greenest countries in Europe. And then, a surprise visitor…from the future…? Rewriting the future - using news broadcasts and story creation to visualise the 2052 we would like to create. Circular economy - explore a circular life cycle from nature and compare it with the life cycle of man-made products. Resources available in Welsh.

Hear about the inspiring work EYST (Ethnic Minority & Youth Support Team) does today to bring disparate and displaced communities together, and think about how we might talk and dress in 2052. Could we really make clothes from oranges? Efa tells us about the communities and clothes she saw in the future, while live speaker Kaite O’Reilly answers questions about storytelling and how it can bring people together. Future Fashion - explore the impact of fashion in today’s world and become future sustainable clothing designers. Communicating Without Words - an outdoor activity to explore how we communicate taking inspiration from nature. Radical Inclusion - this activity looks at what makes us who we are and encourages us to look beyond what is visible on the outside. Resources available in Welsh.

Ten projects brought together science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths, to create unforgettable experiences in person and online for an audience of 18 million. This resource has been created as part of UNBOXED’s GALWAD project. Place: Where we live is just as important as how we live, and imagining those places means we can build them. Efa tells us about the transport she saw in the future, and you can choose which ones have the wow factor in a fun interactive game - are hydrogen cars better than teleportation? There’s also a chance to think about what you’d like to see if you opened your front door in 2052, and hear what others had to say. There is also a Q&A with Hester Turner, a therapist living in an eco-village - some might say she’s already living in the future! Creating Your Community - an activity to design your 2052 community, bringing in elements to make it as inclusive and sustainable as possible. Could We Live Without Money? - learn about our planet’s limited resources and try to create a party only using the skills and resources in your village. Ten projects brought together science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths, to create unforgettable experiences in person and online for an audience of 18 million. This resource has been created as part of UNBOXED’s GALWAD project. The Future: Now that we’ve imagined what a brighter Wales could look like, we need to work out how to make that vision a reality. Hear about the small steps Efa and other people will take to improve the world and come up with your own! Perhaps you’ll start growing your own vegetables, or maybe you’ll only wear used clothes from now on. All of the world’s biggest changes started with positive solutions to a problem, as we learn in the Q&A with solutions journalist Shirish Kulkarni. After all: if we can’t imagine a positive future, how will we build it? A Future Movement - using creative movements and dance to help shape the future we would like to live in. Taking Action - get inspiration from schools across Wales for how to turn your ideas into action and start a movement for change in your school and community. Resources available in Welsh.
