AQA 2N - Ch. 5 - Consolidation of the Communist Dictatorship
This resource will help students to learn about the steps taken by the Bolsheviks to secure their position as the government of Russia, following the 1917 revolution. It is tailored for the AQA A-Level course (2N: Revolution and dictatorship: Russia 1917-1953) and requires the Oxford AQA textbook (ISBN: 0198354584) in order to complete the activities.
It can be used in a variety of ways - revision, self study, pre-reading, consolidation work, homework, the questions can be used as part of a lesson presentation or as a worksheet.
Be aware that the resource is differentiated into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, with each level testing differing skills. I usually start students on the intermediate tasks and let them decide if they need to do the beginner tasks next or move onto the advanced task.
The following topics are covered:
2.1.1. the establishment of one-party control and the removal of the Constituent Assembly;
2.1.2. the ending of involvement in the First World War
2.1.3. Consolidation of the one-party state
