Journeys - Y7 English Scheme
A English scheme of work aimed at year 7s, where students explore different types of journeys through reading and analysing extracts and poetry, as well as writing about their own journeys.
3 weeks / 9 lessons
This scheme centres on different points of view, narratives and experiences. After completing it, students will be able to define:
Narrator
Point of view
Inference
Symbolism
Adjective, adverb, tense, imagery, alliteration, inclusive language, atmosphere, tone
Figurative language (metaphor, simile, personification)
Students should also be able to:
Understand the difference between the literal and the figurative
Understand how journeys can be used by writers to convey their ideologies and perspectives
Identify and explore how writers present thoughts and feelings
Identify and analyse language features, structural methods and poetic techniques
Write about their own journeys - literal and figurative
