Harry Potter Themed Maths Revision Horcrux Hunt
Step into a world of magic and mystery in this Harry Potter-inspired maths lesson! Students begin their adventure by being sorted into Hogwarts houses, where they will work together to earn points and prove their mathematical prowess.
When news arrives that dark magic is returning, Professor Dumbledore calls upon the students for help. Hidden around the school are a series of Horcruxes, and only those with the sharpest mathematical minds can track them down. Teams must embark on a thrilling scavenger hunt, solving a variety of maths riddles, puzzles and challenges to uncover clues leading to each Horcrux’s location.
Along the way, students will:
Be sorted into Hogwarts houses and compete for house points.
Solve engaging maths problems to unlock clues.
Search the school for hidden Horcruxes.
Decipher secret messages and clues.
Speak Parseltongue to gain access to hidden information.
Work collaboratively to overcome magical obstacles.
Assist Professor Dumbledore in defeating the forces of darkness.
The lesson combines problem-solving, teamwork, movement and adventure to create a highly engaging learning experience that motivates even reluctant mathematicians. Perfect for enrichment days, end-of-term activities, maths weeks, transition events, or simply bringing a little magic into the classroom.
Topic areas of area, percentages, substitution, transformation, loci and more!
Please note, students will need to be organised into houses using the wordsearch. Clues need to be hidden around the school before the lesson in named envelopes as per the structure in the excel spreadsheet. A map of your school needs to be created and renamed for various areas applicable to the scavenger hunt.
